How to Pick the Perfect Photo for a Custom Phone Case
Use a bright, high-resolution photo straight from your camera roll — not a screenshot or a re-saved chat image. Keep faces toward the centre, away from the camera cutout, and preview it on your exact phone before ordering.
A custom phone case is only as good as the photo on it. The right image prints crisp and gift-worthy; the wrong one comes out soft or awkwardly cropped. A few simple checks make all the difference.
1. Start with a high-resolution original
Printing needs far more detail than a screen does. A photo straight from a modern phone camera is usually plenty; a tiny screenshot, a zoomed-in crop, or a heavily compressed save often isn't. Rule of thumb: if it already looks soft on your screen, it will look softer printed.
2. Beware app compression
Photos sent through WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, or WeChat are usually compressed and lose detail. So do screenshots of photos. Whenever possible, use the original file from your camera roll or a shared album (“Save original” / full-quality export), not a re-saved copy.
3. Favour bright, well-lit shots
Good lighting is the single biggest factor. Photos taken in daylight or near a window print with richer colour and sharper detail than dim, grainy indoor shots. Dark or noisy photos rarely improve once printed.
4. Mind the crop, orientation, and “safe zone”
Phone cases are tall and narrow, and the camera cutout takes up one corner. A tall (portrait) photo generally fits better than a wide (landscape) one. Keep faces and the most important part of your image toward the centre, away from the edges and the camera area. Our live preview shows exactly how it'll sit before you order.
5. Simple subjects shine

Before-you-upload checklist
- Original file, not a screenshot or chat-app save
- Looks sharp at full size on your screen
- Bright, well-lit, in focus
- Portrait orientation where possible
- Main subject centred, clear of the camera corner
