Case Guide
Tough vs Clear Cases: Which Protection Style Is Right for You?
Drop your phone often? Go Tough. Want slim and see-through? Go Clear. Use magnetic accessories? Tough MagSafe (rugged) or Clear MagSafe (slim). Shopping green? Biodegradable. The full table is below.
“Tough vs Clear” is the classic phone-case question, but GoCraftly actually offers five main styles that sit between those two extremes. Tough cases prioritise protection; Clear cases prioritise a slim, see-through look; and a few in-between styles add MagSafe or a lower-footprint material. Here's the whole range, side by side.
Tough Case: built to take a hit
Thicker walls, reinforced corners, and a raised lip that keeps your screen and camera off surfaces. The case for people who drop their phone or just want peace of mind. Fits the widest range of phones — iPhone and Samsung — and, with Tough MagSafe, is one of only two styles you can order glossy or matte.
Clear Case: slim, light, and see-through
A transparent, low-profile case that shows off your phone or your design. It guards against everyday scratches and bumps rather than heavy drops. On iPhone the clear style is Clear MagSafe (magnets built in, iPhone 14+); on Samsung it's a non-MagSafe Clear case.
All five styles compared
| Style | Protection | MagSafe | See-through | Phones | Finish |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tough | High | No | No | iPhone & Samsung | Glossy or matte |
| Tough MagSafe | High | Yes | No | iPhone 13+, Samsung S26 | Glossy or matte |
| Clear MagSafe | Everyday | Yes | Yes | iPhone 14–17 | Single |
| Samsung Clear | Everyday | No | Yes | Samsung S21–S26 | Single |
| Biodegradable | Everyday | No | No | iPhone 11–17 | Single |
Every style works with wireless charging. MagSafe adds magnetic alignment for chargers and mounts.
Still torn?
Ask how often you actually drop your phone. “More than never” leans Tough. If it mostly lives safely in a hand or bag and you care about the look, Clear is a great pick. Either way you can print your own photo or design and preview it on your exact phone in Design Your Own.
